A magnificent winter hike offering a breathtaking view of the Alps. This is the not-to-be- missed winter hike in Anzère!

After a climb up the Brune, through the forest and with a magnificent view of the valley floor behind the Crêta Besseand the Vallon d'Arbaz, you will reach the alpine pastures and the ski area. A few metres further on, the path leads to the Grenier de Zalan: a small, picturesque restaurant whose charm is matched only by the excellence of its dishes. From here, a magnificent descent awaits you, offering you a breathtaking view of the Alps’ Imperial Crown and the Rhône Valley as far as the Mayens des Grillesses. You will then join the summer route of the Bisse de Sion, which will lead back to the village.

Turn-by-turn directions

The Dahu Tour starts from the cable car car park and goes up the Brune ski run for about an hour. It then crosses the ski area via a road that runs along the hillside towards the Mayens des Grillesses. The walk can be shortened by taking the gondola to the middle station and joining the route there. From there, after this long straight stretch, return west towards Anzère on the route des Grillesses.

Public transport

Public-transport-friendly

Post Bus services take you from Sion to the start of the gondola. A shuttle bus also runs through the village of Anzère throughout the ski season.

Approach

The access to the hiking trail is 100 metres west of the cable car departure station.

Parking

You can park directly at the start of the cable car. There are other car parks in the resort. The winter shuttle bus will take you from any of these to the cable car station.

  • Weather conditions can change quickly in the mountains, without warning. Appropriate clothing is therefore essential, along with adequate supplies of food and water. In uncertainweather, turn back in good time.
  • Do not venture onto glaciers without a mountain guide.
  • Take note of the warning signs that point out the constant danger, especially the danger of avalanches.
  • Inform others of planned route, and whenever possible, avoid going alone.

Additional information

For those who wish to avoid the hour-long climb up the Brune, it is possible to take the gondola to join the route at the mid-station of the ski area. A pedestrian pass is available at a lower cost.
