Continue through the alpine meadows and forests, before ascending a rural track to the Nava alpine meadow. From here, you’ll start a long descent on a wide path, followed by a very technical trail (S3) that plunges down to the village of Mottec. After climbing up the valley to Zinal, board the Sorebois gondola which will take you nearly 1,000 metres higher in a few minutes. Get on your mountain bike and ride to the Corne de Sorebois, from where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the surrounding 4,000 m peaks. Then begins a long descent on a path that offers a splendid view of Lac de Moiry. From the dam wall, you’ll link up with the route of the legendary Grand Raid BCVS race to finish your day in Grimentz.

Pure pleasure on Valais single trails

Snow-white mountain peaks, sunny valleys and the idyllic Alps: there are countless reasons to visit Valais, but the one that attracts bikers to the south of the Alps the most is the innumerable single trails. Starting from the thermal resort of Leukerbad, the Valais Bike takes you on wonderful trails down the flanks of the Rhône Valley to Gampel-Steg. From there you continue to Raron and take the cable car up to Unterbäch. Take a deep breath and brace yourself because the next day you’ll climb up to the imposing Moosalp before following a fast trail down to the Matter Valley. The picturesque Gibidum lake will tempt you to linger awhile, but the bike tour comes to an end shortly thereafter at the Stockalper Palace in Brig. Be it a valley or peak: this bike tour through Valais provides many good reasons for a second visit.

Lötschental & Val d'Anniviers

A stone's throw from the bustling centre of the canton of Valais, the largely unspoilt Lötschental awaits you. Here you fight your way uphill along narrow roads, but the effort is well worth it, because once you reach the top, fantastic panoramas await you. The ride back to civilisation takes you first along remote trails before you return through vineyards to lively Sierre. Too much hustle and bustle? Then the lonely Val d'Anniviers is just right. To get in the mood, try a trail along the valley flank, a detour to the Lac de Moiry and finally, a ride down to Grimentz. The two valleys will inspire you!

On our e-Shop, you can easily find and book the accommodation of your dreams from a wide selection of offers throughout the canton.

Turn-by-turn directions

From St-Luc, take the funicular to Tignousa, then follow the 4x4 track along the Val d'Anniviers Weisshorn Bike to Combavert. Turn right to join a path that crosses the forest of Lâche, located below the Hotel Weisshorn. After the alpine pasture and Gilou forest, take a 4x4 track to the area known as Copaté. After a short descent through the forest, head up to the Nava (Navetta) mountain pasture, then down to the village of Mottec, before going up towards Zinal (the last trail before Mottec is technically difficult). Go around the Navisence reservoir and cross the river onto the right bank to Zinal, before boarding the Zinal-Sorebois cable car. Head for the crest of the Corne de Sorebois, where a singletrack takes you to Moiry Dam. Cross the top of the dam and take the path that runs along the base of its imposing wall, then follow the river and take the rocky path leading to Grimentz.
