Nestled in the Val d'Anniviers, La Gougra restaurant offers a brunch every Sunday, which can be enjoyed in the chic alpine setting of its dining room or on its sunny terrace. Three words sum up the cuisine here: local, seasonal and responsible. The brunch consists entirely of local and homemade products with a gourmet or very gourmet version to choose from. With fruits, pastries, meats, cheeses, verrines and fruit juices, the menu changes each week for the greatest pleasure of your palate.

The Niouc suspension footbridge is one of the highest in Europe at 190 metres. Spanning the Val d’Anniviers, it is also known as the “Spider’s bridge” thanks to its network of metal cables suggesting a spider’s web. Constructed in 1922 to carry water across the valley through a pipe, the bridge is now used for bungy jumps. For 5 francs, hikers with a good head for heights can enjoy a crossing that will take their breath away.

The tour through this valley takes you on an amazing journey among the most beautiful peaks of the Alps, discovering all the natural riches of this region. The famous Ponchet ascent brings us to Chandolin, at an altitude of almost 2,000 metres, or St-Luc and its magnificent Planets path. To return to Zinal, at the bottom of the Navizence valley, you take the upper part of the famous Sierre-Zinal race, pass by the Weisshorn hotel, enjoy the view of the majestic imperial crown created by the five 4,000 metre peaks of Dent-Blanche, Ober Gabelhorn, Zinalrothorn, Weisshorn and Bishorn.

The St-Luc/Chandolin skiing area stretches from 1650 to 3000 metres above sea level and offers magnificent views of the Couronne Impériale with its 4000-metre peaks. Nature-lovers are exuberant at the exceptional snow conditions and authentic atmosphere. The ski area comprises 60 km of slopes, including a snow park right by the Tignousa ski lift. At the Swiss Snow Kids’ Village, budding champions aged under five are introduced to the joys of skiing by specially trained instructors. The resort offers a drag lift and a magic carpet, giving children their first experience of winter sports.

What makes the Valais so special for cyclists is the possibility of climbing legendary passes of over 2000 metres in altitude. Reserved exclusively for soft mobility, these giants of the Alps offer the best conditions for safe ascents.
