The black Galen piste that leads from the summit station of the Plattjen gondola down to Saas-Fee is aimed above all at experienced skiers. Framed by 18 summits higher than 4,000 m, the run offers a fast and exciting descent to the valley floor with glorious views of the Mischabel massif. With a total length of 2.3 km for a vertical drop of 770 m, the Galen piste was once used to stage World Cup races; today it offers a thrilling challenge to all who love steep and speedy runs.

In the indoor swimming pool, the emphasis is on sport and fun. Whether training in the 25-metre pool, regeneration in the whirlpool and on the outdoor terrace or family fun in the children’s pool and on the water slide – activity is the watchword here. The lounge atmosphere of the bistro4000 makes it an inviting spot to stop off for tempting alpine tapas, refreshing lassis (fruit/milk drinks) or an apéritif around the cosy open fire before or after a visit to the Aqua Allalin.

The 9-kilometre run starts at Mittelallalin at an altitude of 3,500 m. From here, you ski down the glacier past dramatic crevasses to Längfluh and then over steep terrain to Spielboden. Now you have a choice: if you like mogul runs and unprepared snow, you will enjoy the run via the Weisse Perle – the “White Pearl”. Alternatively, the usual piste is easier. Both routes lead all the way back to the resort of Saas-Fee. Along the way, various mountain restaurants offer refreshments and a chance to relax.

Start from the Hannig with its superb panorama for a 5-kilometre descent into Saas-Fee. Pure fun for the whole family! The panoramic summit of the Hannig, located at 2,350 metres above sea level, is the starting point for this sledge run. Enjoy the breathtaking view before setting off on the 5-kilometre long descent at lightning speed into the valley below. Sun-worshippers especially will love the terrace of Hannig’s mountain restaurant as well as the stunning panorama it offers. It’s a moment that you’ll be remembering for a long time to come. You’ll have so much fun on the sledges that you’ll want to continue day and night! And why not? Rent headlamps with the sledges and slide from bump to bump in the moonlight. An unforgettable experience for the whole family!

The Allalin Races are the highest downhill glacier races in the world. Participants from all over Europe will compete in various disciplines. Feel the burn on the glacier!

The Ice Climbing Championships at the Saas-Fee parking structure is a wonderful opportunity to watch national and international elite athletes up close, and to experience the relaxed atmosphere of the ice climbing scene! The competition is staged at unique location – which is not likely to happen again. With its round tower, the ten-story parking structure in Saas-Fee provides a perfect staging ground for large audiences, and the competition can be held in any weather conditions.

Every summer is held the Summer cow fight in a different place. The organisers expect around 4,000 people. The Ländlerkapelle will provide entertainment.

As soon as winter takes its leave cow-fighting fever takes a hold on Valais. Released from their stalls, the cows are ready to face any challengers in order to establish the hierarchy within the herd. Regional elimination heats are held from the end of March culminating in the crowning of the queen at the national final in Aproz. From mid-June, with the annual transhumance to the alpine pastures, the summer pasture contests are held, followed by some alp contests throughout the summer and some competitions in autumn when the cows return to the plain.
