A route specially created for ski touring enthusiasts, marked yellow-and-black and graded intermediate, starts just outside Veysonnaz on the road to Mayens de l’Ours. The ascent leads away from the pistes, between chalets and forest, and takes about two hours for 740 vertical metres; the route back down, however, is via the piste. The resort also offers a ski touring experience under the stars: every Tuesday from December to the end of March, enthusiasts can climb the Piste des Mayens from 5 to 9.30 pm, when it is closed to piste-grooming machines. Tourers will need head torches for the two-hour ascent. On these evenings, the Restaurant Mont Rouge at the top of the piste stays open until 9.30 pm.

Veysonnaz becomes a winter paradise as soon as the snow falls. The enormous “Les 4 Vallées” ski area reaches from Veysonnaz and the neighbouring towns of Les Collons and Thyon to Nendaz and the Mont-Fort (3330m) and to La Tzoumaz and Verbier. Overall, “Les 4 Vallées” boasts no less than 412 kilometres of piste and 82 lifts for ski enthusiasts of all levels. World Cup races are staged on the “Piste de l’Ours” above Veysonnaz. Naturally the area features multiple snow sport schools for children and adults, as well as many winter alternatives for nonskiers.

The Chemin du Grand Bisse de Vex starts in Les-Mayens-de Sion, where you are soon on an easy path in a magnificent forest. The historic irrigation channel “Bisse” is your faithful companion along the way and serves to irrigate. Along the way you will discover a beautiful forest dense with larch and spruce. The route leads through the idyllic region above the valley. The tiny glades, the silent forest and sudden open views of the valley floor with breathtaking mountain scenery in the background will bewitch every nature lover. The path is mostly wide and repeatedly offers secluded picnic areas, inviting you to take a break.

Whatever the duration of the challenge (one or more days) and the length of the route chosen, the Tour des Stations is the promise of linking exceptional resorts in a grandiose environment with an extraordinary "vertical drop per km"!

The event distinguishes itself by proposing a challenge unique in the world: "To measure oneself in a single day against the height of Everest". However, everyone has the choice to climb "their own summit" among the six proposed routes, with, as with any climb, guaranteed thrills at the start and tears of joy at the finish.

Since the 2018/2019 winter season, Ski Cross and Snowboard Cross competitors have been meeting each March for the final stage of the World Cup in Veysonnaz. The venue is the famous Piste de l’Ours where the best athletes of both disciplines compete on a course featuring jumps, waves and curves, where skiers and snowboarders have to give their all to win the race on this fast and demanding slope.

Every year, Veysonnaz hosts over a dozen top-level competitions for the Para Alpine Skiing World Cup. Across six days, the world’s best skiers push themselves to the limit on the legendary Piste de l’Ours, officially approved by the FIS for athletes with reduced mobility.
