Since 1352, the people of Monthey have been meeting on Wednesdays with their "Demècre à montà", meaning "Wednesday in Monthey" in patois or an invitation to invite you to the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville. Discover the many merchants, producers or flea markets that populate the market in the shelter of the plane trees.

Located at the heart of the Whitepod hotel complex in Les Giettes, Les Cerniers serves an authentic cuisine that showcases certified Valais-brand products. Its specialities include various Valais röstis, cornetti pasta soup, and a delicious croûte au fromage (toasted bread topped with melted cheese and wine).

Xstream Park is a leisure center where you can WaveSurf, Bodyboard, Trampoline, and book a massage from a qualified massage therapist. All activities are indoors, and are therefore available all year round and in all weather conditions. The trampoline park is available from the age of 4, and the Bodyboard and WaveSurf sessions are available from the age of 8 and 12 respectively. All activities are supervised and coached by qualified staff.

On the third Sunday in July no car traffic is allowed on certain roads in the Valais and Waadt Chablais so that visitors can discover the region without worries. Stop at rest areas with stands with information about clubs, regional products and companies.

From 30 August to 14 September 2025, the Valais will be the mountain bike capital of the world. For the first time in the history of the Mountain Bike World Championships, a single region will host the different events: cross-country, downhill, e-bike, enduro, marathon, pumptrack and short track. Eight Valaisan destinations will host these different events, while the opening ceremony will take place in Sion. Between 1,000 and 1,500 athletes are expected to take part in this exceptional event, which will bring together the world's best athletes.

The Tour de Suisse is a major event in the Union Cycliste Professionnelle (UCI) world cycling calendar. The race consists of several stages held annually in June and includes high mountain sections as well as an individual time trial. In 2023, three Valais destinations will host the event, with a stage through the canton from Monthey to Leukerbad (Leukerbad) on 14 June and a departure from Fiesch on 15 June.
