Baltschieder Glacier

The Baltschiedergletscher consists of two independent parts of a dissociated glacier north of Visp at the end of the valley called Baltschiedertal. The impressing « Äussere Baltschiedergletscher » is embedded between the magnificent mountains Bietschhorn, Aelwer Rigg, Breitlauihorn and Jägihorn. You can reach the glacier by foot departing from Bietschhornhütte in the Lötschental passing by the Baltschiederjoch and the Bietschhorn, before arriving at the Baltschiederklause. A breathtaking view in a southward direction awaits you. On a clear day you can even spot the Mischabel mountainous ridge in the distance and of course the wild Baltschiedertal and Bietschhorn nearby.
