Moiry
The Moiry Dam at the head of the Grimentz Valley was brought into service in 1958. It is not the most impressive of the Valais works but the panorama of the turquoise waters of the lake and the Moiry Glacier as seen from the path that leads to the summit of Sasseneire (3254 m) is arresting. The dam, like the glacier, is accessible by private car or postal bus. It is open from June to October, weather permitting, but closed in winter. Tours are available in the summer and offer information about the building and operation of the Moiry dam.
